We have KODIAK KID in da YOKE house ready to take you on a full power embodiment journey into the heart and soul of this next chapter. This collective evolution of soul tribe. Re-planting our feet on this earth and reclaiming ourselves as whole.

YOKE is a Melbourne based community fusing dance & self expression with live and electronic beats. The word YOKE is a Sanskrit term meaning ‘coming together’, forming union. Our workshops are about facilitating authentic connections to oneself and one other in a space completely free from judgments. We invite you to take the time to let go of the mind and drop into the body through ecstatic dance and movement. YOKE is a collaborative consciousness calling all individuals seeking to express intuitively and energize the soul.

At YOKE we believe in oneness at the core of all existence. With the help of our resident DJs and musicians, who play a mixture of down tempo, deep house, techno, world and live sound healing, we will take you on a two-hour journey releasing the mind and opening the heart. From the moment you enter the space, your senses will be tantalized and you energy fields cleansed with the sacred scents of Frankincense, Sage and Palo Santo. We begin the journey with a tea brew made of carefully selected herbs to guide our journey in line with the particular theme and music. Prepare to enter a trance as together yet individually we flow from slinky stretching to high energy, ecstatic dancing. Always guided by your own body’s wisdom, the sacred space and music become a backing track to the deeper lessons that lie within ourselves when we truly let go. The night concludes with a grounding meditation and group sharing over some handcrafted organic dance-digestifs.

The impact that has been made on Melbourne’s underground Bass scene by Kodiak Kid is beyond measure. His passionate contributions to all aspects of the movement has seen him evolve and establish himself and his influence as a key element responsible for the direction and development of the city’s Bass culture via his forward thinking events company’ Whomp Music’

Known for his fearless array of genres from Hip-Hop to Mid-Tempo and Drum & Bass blending in an effortless harmony with styles like Experimental Down tempo and Soulful Roots. Kodiak Kid continues to push new boundaries with each set, crafting an elegantly immersive journey and experience that is shared by both the artist and audience.

Its with a core resonating understanding between self and sound that lays the foundations for his unique signature style that has placed Kodiak Kid as one of the country’s finest DJ’s, earning him invites to perform at some of the premium festivals and events across Australia including Splendour In The Grass, Rainbow Serpent Festival, Eclipse, Earth Frequency Festival, Island Vibes, Wide Open Space, Regrowth, Let Them Eat Cake amongst overseas ventures performing in New Zealand, Oregon Eclipse Gathering and Burning man. This year has seen Kodiak Kid spending most of his time in the studio working on his debut album set to be released mid 2018.

This is an event for movers and shakers of all walks of life; no prior dance skills necessary. We welcome Yokers of all types in their many unique forms. Let’s go on this journey and celebration of life together.

Please endeavor to arrive by 7 so we can open the dance as a group. Doors will close at 8pm. If you are arriving late please enter quietly. This is a silent moving meditation, to maximise the transformative and meditative aspects of the experience. This is an intoxicant free event so please respect.

The cost of this ticket covers the hard work and dedication on many parts that goes into the creation of each YOKE session. The exclusive sounds that have been carefully selected to tantalise your earholes, altering your consciousness into a state of transcendence. And the sacred space we are lucky enough to be using, including complementary chai/tea/snacks/elixirs before or after the dance to integrate and connect to this growing community. A large portion of the profit is put towards expanding this conscious dance network in new and dynamic ways, so YOU can get more out of this collective journey.
